Eothen Alapatt, aka Egon, is the founder and president of Now-Again Records, the reissue imprint he founded in 2002. He oversees all of the label’s reissues and manages a vast catalog of music from the 1950s through the present day, with a focus on the mid-1960s through the mid-1980s. He is the creative director of the J. Dilla Estate and is partners with Madlib in Madlib Invazion, a production company and label known for issuing the Freddie Gibbs and Madlib Piñata and Bandana albums and Madlib Medicine Show series. In 2005, Egon and Madlib launched the Rappcats pop-up store at the same time Quasimoto’s Rappcats [The Further Adventures of Lord Quas / Stones Throw Records, 2005] music video was released. Since then, a number of events organized around famous records collectors and DJs are held and usually occurring over a 3 day weekend, where rarities from their collection are sold with a minimal fare. DJ Shadow's first Rappcats was held in 2016 and renewed every year up to 2019. On various occasions, exclusive DJ Shadow limited editions records were made available at Rappcats only. Egon announced the return of DJ Shadow for his 5th Rappcats garage sale this year. We'll keep you updated as soon as we know the exact date. After a long period of inactivity, Shadow's official site has just been relaunched with a complete reworked design. The site was designed at Mainfactor by Michael Fiebach and Jamie Ross. Old timers will remember of Mike Fiebach who is not a total stranger since he's been the project, marketing and merchandise manager for Shadow.com from 2006 to 2011. Mike is also the founder of The Fame House, the company behind the global marketing strategy surrounding The Mountain Will Fall. The official site was initially launched in 2000, going through a number of revamping ever since. It usually means that some new music or merchandise is gonna be released soon, so stay tuned!
